10 new mediators are awarded the Warrant

Justice Minister Jonathan Attard presented the warrants to 10 new mediators after completing an academic course and demonstrating their competence to exercise the role of mediator.

At a ceremony at Auberge d’Aragon on Monday 5th June 2023, Minister Attard congratulated the new mediators and thanked them for choosing to serve those who seek their assistance to reach an amicable solution for their dispute within a reasonable time and at a lower cost.

“Through the granting of these warrants we are delivering another electoral promise by continuing to increase mediators and committed to continue working and considering further initiatives to strengthen the mediation sector,” Minister Attard stressed.

The minister also explained that in the last year, the budget allocated to the Mediation Centre increased by 50 % to further modernise and be a tool to avoid contentious cases before our Courts.

The ceremony was also addressed by the Chairperson of the Board of Governors of the Malta Mediation Centre, Dr Vince Micallef who spoke about the work being carried out not only in implementing the proposals of the government’s electoral manifesto and drafting proposals for legislative changes but also with initiatives to further promote this sector. The address can be read here.
